If you’ve ever wondered how to change the name of the person that
Windows is registered to, this is the quick tip for you. It’s not all
that useful, but it might come in handy if you got a computer from
somebody else.
To change your name and company information after Windows is installed on your computer, follow these steps:

might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure
that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up
the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if
a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore

the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
- Locate the following registry key:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
- To change the company name, do the following:
In the right pane, double-click RegisteredOrganization. Under Value data, type the name that you want, and then click OK. - To change the name of the registered owner, do the following:
In the right pane, double-click RegisteredOwner. Under Value data, type the name that you want, and then click OK. - Click Exit on the File menu to quit Registry Editor.
